Slam competition includes $500 and $300 prizes for top vote-getters

Sept. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Speak 2B Free, a social networking site for spoken word poets, has announced its upcoming Video and Audio Performance Poetry Contest. Anyone is welcome to participate or vote on favorite performances after registering at Speak2bFree.com. Both contests start on September 13, and there is no entrance fee for any entry submitted by September 30. From October 1, 2010 until the end of the contest on October 31, 2010, the fee will be $5 for all video submissions and $3 for MP3 (audio) submissions. Participants may enter as many times as they would like, and the winner of each contest is the top vote-getter as of 12 am on November 15, 2010. The winner of the video category will receive $500, and the winner of the audio category will receive $300.

Of the contest, the company's founder Vangile Makwakwa said, “This contest is a great way for young and upcoming slam poets to start sharing their work with a global audience and also be part of a community that is intent in freeing itself from self imposed limitations. We are looking to reach college and university aged between 18 and 21 years, who love slam poetry and want to share their work but are unable to because they cannot get into 21+ bars.”

To sign up, register at speak2bfree.com, and then click on “Slam Poet Competition” for details on submitting your video or MP3.
