Montgomery County Toastmasters 1st ever "Community Speak-a-thon" a Success in Hillsboro, IL

Sept. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- The Montgomery County Toastmasters Club of Hillsboro, IL met Tuesday, August 31, 2010 for a special public "Community Speakathon" meeting. Two Club Members and two non-members gave prepared speeches.

First, non-member Dennis Vieweg gave a 15-minute speech called, "Changing My World".  It was practice for the speech that he will present in October 2010 to a group of Christian men as part of his mission work.  Dennis then received a group evaluation led by Club member Myra Mollett.

Next, club member Dr Todd Austin from Virden, IL spoke about his "3 P's of Quality Speech Giving", which are: Preparation, Practice & Performance.  This was a 7-minute advanced communication manual Toastmasters project from the manual which is entitled "Communicating On Television".   Chandan Bhagwat evaluated Austin's speech.

Third, Club member Ron Lawrence asked us in his speech, "Is It A Small World Or Is It A God Thing?"  Ron's 7-minute basic manual presentation was evaluated by Club member Kim Noyes.

Last, but not least, 15 year old Summer Robbins, the daughter of Club member Rick Robbins, gave a speech entitled, "Remembering our Veterans".  It was practice for a pageant in which she will be competing in September 2010.  Club member Todd Austin evaluated Summer's presentation.

One special dignitary, Toastmaster's Area 1 Governor Chandan Bhagwat from Springfield, IL was also in attendance at the meeting.

The next scheduled regular meeting of the Montgomery County Toastmasters Club of Hillsboro, IL is on Tuesday, September 7th, 7 p.m. at the Hillsboro Red Rooster Inn.   The club meets every first and third Tuesday of the month.  Guests are always welcome to attend.
