Update enhances application’s play-out capabilities to include ARGB files  for keying motion graphics over live video

IBC (Booth 7.G14), Amsterdam, the Netherlands, September 2, 2010 – Softron Media Services today announced immediate availability of OnTheAir Video 2.5. OnTheAir Video 2.5 offers several new features including the ability to key or overlay motion graphic clips containing alpha channels (ARGB) over incoming video feeds. OnTheAir Video is one of the applications Softron offers in its OnTheAir suite of products. In use at hundreds of television stations worldwide, it is a key component for many commercial, educational and religious broadcasters large and small. It is also used in live events such as music concerts, sporting competitions and museum displays.

OnTheAir Video is an open architecture application that allows for easy integration with third party software and hardware by using XML data links, AppleScripts, Telnet, GPI or even text files. Now, with the ability to key motion graphic clips that have been created with embedded alpha channels, users of software such as Adobe's After Effects or Apple's Motion can create stunning visual effects and DOGs and integrate these into OnTheAir Video playlists. Since OnTheAir Video offers such easy integration with third party applications, users can use the software they are already most comfortable with rather than learning a new application.

OnTheAir Video offers options for scheduling, for HD, for multiple simultaneous language play-out and overlaying still graphics such as logos, lower thirds and DOGs onto video clips that are playing out to air or being broadcast over the internet. Starting at USD 1995 (1295 EUR) OnTheAir Video is designed to be used on a single workstation. OnTheAir Video 2.5 is a free upgrade to all current owners of OnTheAir Video 2.4.x for the Macintosh.
Multiple OnTheAir Video licenses can be used together with a single video card that has multiple outputs. A license is needed for each output. If multiple cards are used, each having a single or multiple outputs, users can accommodate up to six SD play-out channels or up to four HD play-out channels on a single workstation.

“Probably the most asked for feature for OnTheAir Video was the ability to key ARGB clips from within an OnTheAir Video playlist” says Mike Skibra, Softron's Business Development Manager. “Now, with an appropriate video card that allows for internal or external keying, OnTheAir Video provides these capabilities. Existing users will be able to download this latest version from our website for an upgrade at no charge. We listen to our users and we deliver what they ask for.”
