From 1976-1983, the original Ford Fiesta was manufactured Spain, UK and Germany.  The US version of the Fiesta was built in Cologne, Germany.  It was introduced in the 1977 model year and continued to be sold until 1980 model year.  They made made for models for the US - Base, Decor, Sport and Ghia.  Many people knew of this car are the Mark I Fiesta   Although they dressed these cars up for the US market with air conditioning, catalytic converters and impact bumpers, the car was never a hit.  It only became popular as a used car by young enthusiasts who dress up and souped up their Fiestas to race and show.  Today it remains a popular car show model with all major car shows have some 1st generation Ford Fiesta on display.
