Aug. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Buff, Inc., the pioneering multifunctional headwear brand for athletes, is sponsoring the first ever 24 Hours of Leadville endurance mountain bike race in Leadville, Colorado September 4th and 5th.

The 24 Hours of Leadville is a race dovetailing off the success of its sister event, the recent Life Time Fitness Leadville Trail 100. But unlike the solo-only format of Leadville 100, individuals and teams will race to see how many miles they can ride over a 24-hour period. The course will feature the same characteristics that have made the Life Time Fitness Leadville Trail 100 a world-famous event. The course boasts incredibly technical singletrack, fast double track, and 2,100 feet of elevation gain per 17.6-mile lap.

Rebecca Rusch, Buff, Inc. sponsored athlete and recent Leadville Trail 100 winner, will be at the race to conduct a skills clinic while also racing as part of a team. Rebecca is no stranger to the Leadville course having won the women’s race the last two years. Rebecca broke the course record this year with a blistering fast time of 7 hours, 47 minutes.

Buff® will provide an assortment of 200 UV Buff® and the new Seamless Headband Buff® to each racer, plus the event’s staff and volunteers.

The new-for-2011 Seamless Headband Buff® is designed to fit comfortably under a bike helmet. Cyclists love its size and functionality as a helmet liner, headband or skullcap. Made with CoolMax® Extreme, it blocks 95% UV rays, wicks sweat, keeps you cool in hotter months, and provides an extra layer of warmth to slide over your ears on cold days. The Seamless Headband’s versatility will be proven at Leadville given the range of conditions in mountains above 10,000 feet. Polygiene® silver ion treatment prevents odor-causing bacteria and keeps your helmet and headband smelling fresh.

The 24 Hours of Leadville race categories include: solo (m/f), tandem, solo single-speed (m/f), four-person (m/f/coed), duo (m/f/coed) and corporate teams of up to 10 racers (m/f/coed). Register here and stay up to date with the schedule of events and race rules & regulations!
