(NYC) Elyse Slaine at the Opening Day of Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge

Aug. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Polo matches return to Bridgehampton this summer with six weeks of the most exciting and memorable action in the world. The sport's greatest athletes will compete for polo's most treasured prizes – the Mercedes-Benz Cup and the Hamptons Cup.

The blazing high temperature did little to stop the massive crowd from gathering at the opening day for the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge at Blue Star Jets Field in Bridgehampton.

Many of the attendees donned their best “Hampton-Chic” attire to enjoy the polo match and mingle among the VIP’s and socialites in attendance.  We spotted the festive party-goers in a series of gorgeous summer apparel.  Some women wore gorgeous hats and dresses while some men were spotted in a colorful array of linen pants.

In the midst of all the beautiful clothing and hot weather there was  fun to be had and attendees danced  and sampled specialty cocktails from Patron and Smartwater, dined on delicious bites of food and enjoyed fine shopping from the retailers on hand.

A portion of proceeds from the Mercedes-Benz Bridgehampton Polo Challenge will go to South Fork Breast Cancer Coalition. The VIP tent will host an invitation-only cocktail reception for exclusive guests each Saturday afternoon during the tournament. Matches will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
