Follow on Google News | Canal Digital offers Premiership in High-Definition for its CustomersIn December, 2009 Canal Plus lost the rights to broadcast the Premiership in the Nordic region for the next 3 seasons. The company that bought the rights is called Medge Consulting.
By: Henning Fortunately, Canal Digital signed contracts with the TV channels that are going to broadcast the Premiership. For all the Norwegian customers of Canal Digital, the Premiership will be available on TV2 for the next 3 years. The best thing is that the broadcast will come in high definition for both sattelit tv and cable TV subscribers. Although, there were some accusations that the deal was brokered by Medge Consulting, TV2 created 24 hour channels that display only materials from the Premiership and some added features. In Finland the customers of Canal Digital will be able to watch the Premiership on Canal+ and in Denmark on Kanal 6. Since Canal Plus was outbid by Medge for the rights to broadcast the Premiership, the company included other parts of the schedule such as Serie A, Bundesliga and Carling Cup. That way there will be more sport broadcasted on Canal+ than ever before and also the broadcast will be available in HD for all Canal Digital customers. The past month, there were a lot of people thinking that Canal Digital will not manage to sign contracts with the channels that have the rights to broadcast the Premiership, but the company managed to close all the deals on time. For the TV viewers in Sweden, the Premiership will be available only for Viasat subscribers. However, Canal Digital is working on new contracts with Viasat, so the Premiership will be available for the customers of that company soon.
