Peace X Peace Names Kimberly V. Weichel as Chief Executive Officer

Aug. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Washington, DC. The Peace X Peace Board of Directors is pleased to announce it has selected a new CEO, Kimberly V. Weichel. Peace X Peace is an international nonprofit that lifts women's voices, strengthens women's capacity to connect across divides, promotes leadership and gender equity, and nurtures a global network of peacebuilders in over 120 countries.

Weichel, a global development and peacebuilding expert with 30 years' experience in the international arena, is the founding director of the Institute for Peacebuilding, which provides education, training, and consulting in schools, organizations and with the United Nations. Patricia Smith Melton, Peace X Peace Founder and Board member, calls Weichel “the woman we need now.” Weichel says: “I am thrilled to be invited to lead this important cross-cultural organization that successfully connects women to build sustainable peace. I look forward to growing this crucial work with this remarkable team.”

Weichel will be replacing Molly Mayfield Barbee as the organization’s leader. Mayfield Barbee has been with Peace X Peace since 2005 and most recently served as Executive Director. She will continue to be active in peacebuilding and international relations.
