TreeCarbs to partner with the Asian Golf Course Owners Association

Aug. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- New York, in an unprecedented environmental agreement, TreeCarbs a Carbon Bank Hedge Fund has agreed to partner with the Asian Golf Course Owners Association to acquire carbon credits from their membership of Golf courses owners.

The announcement means that TreeCarbs will acquire all surplus carbon credits from Environmental Audits carried out by the Asian Golf Course Owners Association environmental partner, Shift2Neutral and the various certified Shift2Neutral agents around the globe.

In November 2008 the Asian Golf Course Owners Association signed an exclusive agreement with Shift2Neutral to assist their members to perform Environmental Audits using ISO 4001 and to have their golf course facilities certified for carbon credits.  Since this time TreeCarbs has been working with the Asian Golf Course Owners Association to formalize an agreement.

Many of the golf courses have more than 2,000 carbon credits which are used to initially offset their emissions from the environmental audit of the golf course and club using an environmental management system (EMS) supplied by Shift2Neutral.  The environmental audits allow the golf course owners to review their options on items such as renewable energy and environmental solutions to further reduce their impact on the environment.  For example, many golf courses have been using reclaimed waste water in their dams and using organic fertilizers for the turf and greens.

A spokesperson for TreeCarbs in making the announcement today advised, "the Asian Golf Course Owners Association and it's Chief Operating Officer Mr Zedek Myn are leading the way in Environmental Management Issues with Golf Courses globally.  There are more than 60,000 golf courses world wide, many of which have detailed environmental documentation dating back 20 years or more.  The fact the Asian Golf Course Owners Association are now capitalizing on this by performing environmental management and carbon credit audits means that the golf course owners are now taking advantage of their long positive history with the environment.  Industry veterans such as former IMG representative and now President of Emerald Golf - James Quilley and Anil Dev, the Director of Golf Plus, the best selling golf-industry magazine in India are true visionaries in working with the Asian Golf Course Owners Association and Shift2Neutral as agents to certify golf courses.  It shows the industry is behind this program."
