Q-KON & ND SatCom Receives Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award

Aug. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Q-KON, a South Africa-based provider of turnkey solutions covering specialist areas of telecommunications and ICT, has secured joint first place for a Satellite IT Innovation Award within the Business Service Innovation category of the Global Telecoms Business (GTB) Innovation Awards 2010, held recently in London, UK.

The established national service provider received worldwide accolade for its contribution to the testing and support of XWARP® in a commercial environment, a virtualisation and satellite communication technology solution developed by ND Satcom.

ND SatCom is an SES ASTRA company and global supplier of satellite communication systems and equipment.

XWARP® combines satellite with Citrix virtualisation technology and is designed to offer latency-free virtualised and bandwidth-optimised software performance at the user’s front end.

Among the key advantages of this solution is enhanced capability for business continuity following network failures, faster and more secure financial transactions, offsite global training and the delivery of business critical applications via satellite.

Q-KON was recognised by organisers of the GTB Awards for its expertise and ability to provide full support for the testing of the XWARP® solution within various scenarios. As a result of this success and reliability of support XWARP™ is already operated by two South African reference customers, a satellite service provider and an ICT service provider.
