Cheapest 2GB DDR2 Memory for Notebooks & Netbooks

Aug. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- ComputerMonger has updated his list of the cheapest 2GB DDR2 SO-DIMM memory modules for laptops and netbooks. The cheapest is the Crucial Rendition 2GB RM25664AC667 at 667MHz for $37.99 via Newegg.

The Rendition RM25664AC667 memory module is followed by the Rendition 800MHz RM25664AC800 for $38.99 (Newegg), the G.SKILL 667MHz F2-5300CL5S-2GBSQ for $38.99 (Newegg), PNY Optima 667MHz MN2048SD2-667 priced at $39.99 (Newegg), and the Crucial 667MHz CT25664AC667 for $40.99 (Newegg).

Using a single 2GB module instead of 2 x 1GB in laptops leaves one SO-DIMM slot free for future upgrades. On the other side, netbooks usually come with 1GB RAM and a single memory slot, so using a single 2GB stick is the only way to upgrade to 2GB.

Note: Newer laptops and netbooks have DDR3 memory slots, which are not compatible with DDR2 modules.
