Aug. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- This extensive training is designed to assist homeowners facing foreclosures and to help home buyers in purchasing a distressed property.  “Bill’s dedication in earning the CDPE designation demonstrates his willingness to not only help troubled homeowners in the Scottsdale area but it shows a commitment to help the community recover from this recession,” said Howard Lein, the owner of Re/Max Excalibur. “Seasoned real estate agents like Bill and nearly 5,000 RE/MAX Associates who are already CDPE certified, know that specific training is essential in helping families buy and sell homes.”  The Scottsdale area has seen its fair share of foreclosures.  In a single month, this year, in Maricopa County, 2460 single-family home foreclosures were reported according to the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. According to the School in a previous press release, “...foreclosed properties still account for 60 percent of the Valley’s single-family home market activity”.  In a short sale transaction, a lender allows the homeowner to sell their property for less than the mortgage amount, to avoid the foreclosure process.
“In this market, more than ever before, home buyers and sellers appreciate working with a professional real estate agent who is qualified and trained to navigate through the short sale and foreclosure process,” said Duffey, who has more than 11 years of experience in the real estate business. “I’m anxious to put my CDPE designation to work and help families stay in their homes or create a way for them to sell their homes by utilizing a short sale process”.

The Distressed Property Institute, based in Boca Raton, FL, offers the CDPE designation and was founded by real estate veteran Alex Charfen.  RE/MAX Chairman and Co-Founder, Dave Liniger, encourages all real estate agents to obtain the CDPE designation.  Over 5,000 RE/MAX agents have taken the extensive course. There are more real estate agents from RE/MAX with the CDPE designation than from any other real estate company.  Of the estimated 1.2 million Realtors in the United States, less than 23,000 have obtained this highly specialized designation.
