Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union Awards 2010 Scholarships

Aug. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- TICONDEROGA, NY – The Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union (TFCU) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2010 TFCU Academic Scholarships.  Three $500 scholarships were awarded in 2010.  The recipients are Hayley Best of Ticonderoga High School, Sarah Garcia of Schroon Lake Central School and Alyssa Joy Lough of Schroon Lake Central School.

Hayley Best will attend the Albany College of Pharmacy.  Sarah Garcia will attend SUNY Adirondack, beginning this fall.  Alyssa Joy Lough will continue her studies at the Word of Life Bible Institute.

“We are glad to have contributed to the financial education of these three outstanding youth members," said TFCU CEO, Gregory Johnson.  "We wish them all the best in their future endeavors."

Each year, TFCU awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are TFCU members, have displayed outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements and demonstrated an awareness of the "people helping people" credit union philosophy.  Applicants are judged by representatives of the Credit Union Association of New York (CUANY), located in Albany, NY.
 
The Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1954 as the International Paper Ticonderoga Mill’s employee credit union. Since then, it has amended its charter twice, and now provides services to persons who live, work, worship or attend school in, or businesses or legal entities located in Essex County, Washington County or in the Towns of Hague, Horicon and Chester.
