Water Buffalo Meat Lowers Cholesterol

Eating water buffalo meat reduces the cardiovascular risk profile. A study shows that water buffalo meat lowers total cholesterol and triglycerides.

Aug. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- A very interesting study shows that water buffalo meat reduces cardiovascular risk profile. In a study entitled: “Beneficial impact on cardiovascular risk profile of water buffalo meat consumption” conduced by a team of researchers Giordano et al in the Eur J Clin Nutr suggests that meat consumption of water buffalo reduces cardiovascular risk profile.

It is well known that meats of any kind especially red meat are notorious for increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease. One such meat is the cow or beef. Interestingly water buffalo that are part of same bovine species reduces cardiovascular risk is of surprise according to this new study.

The interesting article published in the prestigious journal European Journal of Clinical Nutrition abbreviated as “Eur J Clin Nutr” shows impact of water buffalo meat consumption on cardiovascular risk in a study comprising of 300 people.

A study comprising of 300 individuals divided in two groups; 1 that consumed water buffalo meat while the other did not. After a year, a follow up study showed that the group that consumed the meat of water buffalos had lower total cholesterol, triglycerides levels and lower pulse wave.

The study shows that there are some benefits of consuming meat of water buffalo from cardiovascular risks. However more research would be required.
