Aug. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Renting a vacation home is no new concept. What IS new is that the options are greater, the venues more exotic, and the accommodations more luxurious. Many resort town vacation home operators are giving those big commercial resorts a run for their money.  Even the major travel wholesalers are offering vacation home options.  TripAdvisor.com, as one example, has a fabulous search engine but is known more so for its travelers’ ratings - gathering guest reviews on all sort of travel related venues and then scoring them accordingly.  These are true reviews versus the padded reviews on other sites.

And vacation rentals are no longer the bare bones ‘just a place to crash’ that they used to be – lacking even the most basic paper goods.  Welcome to the new exoti-tique and upscale venues being offered.  For instance we found one property in Fort Lauderdale Florida, reviewed at TripAdvisor.com, billing itself as a “Rain Forest With Cottage”.  Adorned in the most enchanting décor the cottage struck us more as a mini South Seas style retreat – lots of bamboo, flowering gardens, and even a mermaid.  The appointments, reviewed as Hilton-esque, even include full-blown coffee & spa welcome kits. Check it out at VictoriaParkCottage.com

Now you might be thinking that leaving hotels in favor of a vacation rental, you’d also be leaving behind all the resort conveniences and services. Not so. Oftentimes vacation home proprietors offer many of these services as add-ons.  We’ve even found some offering services such as a personal trainer and a dedicated concierge.  Naturally, you can add-on things like daily housekeeping, newspaper on the stoop, or groceries delivered right to the kitchen.  Actually, a vacation home offers aspects that a resort can’t or that they’d add on for a hefty premium. Things like telephones with free long distance, cable service including free premium channels, free internet service, and free parking are typically included in a vacation rental. There are values that can’t be tabulated too. Such as the privacy of a vacation home.  How about the ability to prepare your favorite (or special diet) dishes.  Then there’s Rover who can spend the vacation with you.

All-in-all a vacation home can be a much better option against resorts and hotels. Or should we say ‘away from hotels’.
