The US recession and news about joblessness are ranking high in the minds of college students/grads

Dog walking pioneer, J.D. Antell brings college grads and students some much needed hope amid a constant barrage of depressing and demoralizing news about the unemployment abyss that awaits them.

Aug. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Sadly the unemployment rate is climbing higher. MSN recently reported the actual unemployment rate is closer to 17%! These are numbers that have everyone's attention; but no one is more concerned about them than the black robe wearing masses exiting US college campuses. So what are these college grads to do?

Start a dog walking business! More and more college grads have taken notice of and profited from becoming dog walkers during and after school. Dog walking currently ranks as one of the top new small businesses in America. It's flexible work that affords students and grads the opportunity to interview for jobs while making a decent income working part-time; and depending on how entrepreneurial one is, one might just make a career out of it.

Antell has written a guide based on his own experiences starting and running one of the north shore's most successful dog walking businesses. The Dog Walker's Startup Guide, provides a 12 step  action plan for turning unemployment into financial freedom. Antell says income will depend on the area and its demographic, but modest expectations for a solo dog walking business can range from around $600 per week, part-time, to $1,200+ full-time.
