Aug. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- COLUMBUS, Ohio –  TeamDynamixHE, the leading provider of project and portfolio management software (PPM) for the higher education industry, today released Task Manager, a free, intuitive and easy-to-use alternative to Microsoft® Project. The solution developed for college and university environments allows staff and faculty to create, update and manage project plans and tasks offline, and then save them to their computer and/or integrate them seamlessly with the hosted or installed versions of TeamDynamixHE Enterprise PPM software. The desktop application can be downloaded for free from http://community.teamdynamix.com/downloads/1/task-manager.

TeamDynamixHE released Task Manager with several advanced features, including an intuitive and professional interface and an interactive, real-time Gantt chart that allows users to drag and drop task start and end dates to change their duration. Project plans can be created from scratch within Task Manager or, if integrated with TeamDynamixHE PPM tools, can be imported from an existing project. Task Manager has a variety of reporting features, and users can also export and work with their project plans from their desktops while offline and, once online, update the plans to TeamDynamixHE.

“We developed Task Manager to provide a powerful and easy-to-use solution to help higher education staff and faculty across the country with their project planning processes,” said Andrew Graf, lead analyst for TeamDynamixHE. “Task Manager is a full featured application that provides a great alternative to current task management tools on the market, delivering easy-to-set start date, end date and estimated hours, quick task assignment and an interactive Gantt chart for plan optimization. We will continue to add new capabilities to Task Manager during the coming months and are also developing an open source version for release in the near future.”

Graf added, “In less than a month, we have more than three dozen colleges and universities using Task Manager, and their users have become an active part of our TeamDynamixHE Community, which will become the largest online community of project-minded Higher Education resources.”

TeamDynamixHE Task Manager requires Windows XP, Vista or 7, .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, and in order to access the server capabilities, users must have access to TeamDynamixHE Enterprise TDNext 6.3 or later.
