Aug. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- A local Worcestershire business woman has set up an online food directory for the Worcester area. The directory covers local restaurants, takeaways, coffee bars and cafes, farm shops and farmers markets, vegetable box schemes, speciality food shops and delis - in fact, anything to do with food.

She got the idea when she found that searching for local food information online was a time consuming and often frustrating task, with information spread over a variety of different websites. She decided to bring all the information together on one site - and EAT Worcester was born.

The advantages for businesses and consumers are numerous. Businesses are all offered a free basic listing so that every single food business in Worcester can benefit from a listing; paid listing options are cost effective, and include opportunities to promote special offers, offer competitions, be introduced to their potential customers in a 'Meet The Owner' section; and be promoted on Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare as part of the online promotional package.

Consumers benefit from regular newsletters with exclusive competitions and special offers, a forum to discuss food businesses in the area, and a 'one-stop site' for everything food related in the area, including business names, addresses, telephone numbers and website links for total ease of use.

Local food events are regularly highlighted, including farmers markets and food and drink festivals, fruit picking and taste testing events.

In the near  future, Malvern residents will also benefit from it's own online local food directory, as the owner of EAT Worcester has just purchased the domain name EATMalvern.co.uk
