The Burger King “Benefit Night for Sherwood Forest Camp” will be held at the Burger King Hampton Ave store and will be a chance for kids and their families, customers, supporters, employees and civic leaders to mix and mingle for a greater cause.

Aug. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- St. Louis-; It is a collaboration that just makes sense; imagine the concept of camp fire flame broiled Whoppers® coupled with families and civic leaders together for a cause. The end result is a BK® branded fundraiser for economically disadvantaged kids to be able to attend summer camp. Liberty Restaurant Group (LRG), the Burger King franchisee with 23 St. Louis area locations has made supporting educational programs a way of life, which is why LRG has teamed up with Sherwood Forest Camp (SFC) to host a benefit to support its’ mission.

The Burger King “Benefit Night for Sherwood Forest Camp” will be held at the Burger King Hampton Avenue location and will be a chance for kids and their families, customers, supporters, employees and civic leaders to mix and mingle for a greater cause. By simply dropping their receipt in one of the donation boxes at the ordering counter a portion of each  receipt will be donated to SFC. Always looking for a unique way to support their educational initiative, LRG believes in education and the development of youth.

“The economy has effected our bottom-line just as much as the next business. However, we remain proactive in our efforts to invest into the education and development of the youth in our area. In these times you just have to be more creative and we‘re glad to be able to join Mary Rogers and the entire team at Sherwood Forest Camp. We support their vision and just want to do our part,” says Kelly Hasty, Liberty Restaurant Group.

SFC, which is led by Mary Rogers, the executive director who went to SFC summer camp as a child and was just recently featured in STL Magazine and the Post-Dispatch, gives kids an opportunity to live in a residential camp setting and learn to practice team-building and develop decision-making skills. In addition, they also have a library and summer reading program so the campers don't lose their reading skills over the summer.

When asked why she stayed with the camp for 43 years during her interview with Deb Peterson of the Post-Dispatch, Rogers replied, “Because I love it and I believe in what we do. It really makes a difference in kids' lives.”
