PRLog -- Fashion Designer Alexander Wang is known for his edgy, masculine women’s wear designs. Alexander Wang focused on a combination of eighties hip-hop and seventies Parisian chic. Wang managed to pull off a modern and polished, not to mention commercially viable, collection. After designing a Fall 2008 collection using black as the predominant colour, he designed his Spring 2009 collection using bright colours such as orange, dusty purple, aqua and hot pink, and proclaimed, "They wanted colour, they got colour!" Although he reverted to using mainly black fabrics, he was praised for showing great tailoring skills. Alex was born and raised in San Francisco, CA and has Chinese-American heritage. At the age of 18 he moved to New York City attended Parsons School of Design. By his sophomore year he already launched his first collection with his personal label. He also launched 2007 his first full women collection and selling his pieces to over 200 store. In 2008 Alex received a the Vogue Fashion Fund.2009 he was the winner of the Swarovski Womemswear Designer of the year. 2009 he has received the Swiss Textiles Award.2010 he celebrated another Swarovski Award this time for the best Accessory. Now, having expanded his line to include a full range of ready-to-wear pieces, from distressed boyfriend jeans and shrunken vests to, of course, covetable cosy cardigans, Wang has continued to make a name for himself with his signature "model-off-duty"
style. With a growing cult embracing his street-smart approach to dressing—including catwalk queens (friend Erin Wasson is his in-house muse and runway stylist) and downtown dwellers alike—Wang may just be the coolest kid in Manhattan.
