Aug. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- NEW YORK – On August 19th Tom McPhee, Executive Director of the World Animal Awareness Society – WA2S.org will host a reception and fundraiser for the ALL EYES ON THE GULF Expedition (AEOTGE).  AEOTGE is an unprecedented expedition in which WA2S.org volunteers have a continuous presence in the Gulf regions to document how the Deepwater Horizon oil spill is affecting the “wild-LIFE” and follows the inspiring stories of the human interactions with those animals.

Held at the Peter Max Gallery in New York City (37 West 65th Street, 7th Floor), the reception will include  cocktails, vegan hors d'oeuvres catered by Café Blossom, a special gift bag for each attendee, and a presentation by Tom McPhee about the World Animal Awareness Society and the ALL EYES ON THE GULF Expedition.  Gallery hosts Mary & Peter Max will be in attendance along with special guests Celine Cousteau of CauseCentric Productions and John Phillips of the New York League of Humane Voters.  Tickets can be purchased by donating $100 through the WA2S.org website or at the door http://www.WA2S.org (click donate, write Peter Max Event in the message). World Animal Awareness Society will also be holding a silent auction beginning this Friday, August 13 through the days leading up to this event.  The auction will end on the night of the Gallery fundraiser.  Attendees at the event will learn more about the auction items and will be able to bid.  Auction items include: A week long Gulf expedition with Tom McPhee, a private dolphin cruise for up to 6 people, tickets to the Audubon Aquarium in NOLA, limited edition signed artwork (prints, lithographs, oil on canvas) that have been donated by various artists, a vegan dinner at Café Blossom restaurant, and other great items.  100% of the proceeds will benefit the World Animal Awareness Society and their work in the Gulf.  When the auction opens you can bid here:  http://shop.ebay.com/wa2s/m.html?_nkw&_armrs=1&_from&_ipg...

About ALL EYES ON THE GULF Expedition (AEOTGE) – Tom McPhee, Executive Director of the World Animal Awareness Society – WA2S.org visited the Gulf shortly after the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion to survey the area, research access through the Unified Command system, and determine the need for further visual data collection as it pertains to the wildlife affected by this oil spill.  After his initial trip Tom created the ALL EYES ON THE GULF Expedition.  The AEOTGE is a scientific expedition to collect visual data of wildlife and the human element.  WA2S.org provides a non-biased window for the world to view this disaster.  Our team has unique relationships with individuals and organizations in the region, such as NOAA, USFWS, EcoRigs.org, Sea Turtle Restoration Project, On Wings of Care, IBRRC, Audubon Nature Institute, US Coast Guard, and residents in communities along the coast. Our team is filming from not only ground level, but also aerial and underwater.  All of the WA2S.org data, as well as data from partnering organization and individuals within the local communities, will be posted to an interactive action map here: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&t=h&msa=0&ms...

About World Animal Awareness Society - WA2S.org - The mission of the World Animal Awareness Society is to focus a lens on a wide range of human-animal interactions in order to have a filmed record of our behavior in expectation that it will create a window to observe human evolution. The moving image is arguably the rawest, most powerful educational tool we have to witness our behavioral patterns, attitudes and interactions and aid us in our continued growth. Visit the World Animal Awareness Society website to learn more.  http://www.WA2S.org  Click donate today to support our efforts in the Gulf.
