Aug. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- CADmeleon were happy to be part of the international climate change event at St. James’s Palace on July 14th 2010. The conference, lead by Prince Charles and the European Commissioner for Climate Change Connie Hedegaard was in aid to raise the debate on sustainability and assess how active we are being as a nation. The Prince of Wales stressed the importance of protecting the environment and the fact that we are all responsible for our world, working towards achieving a low carbon economy through sustainability benchmarking. The main aim of the event was to reinvigorate the movement for a deal within the international business community and assess the policies necessary to achieve the scale of change needed.
The event brought together many respectable companies such as Oxfam, Vodafone, Procter & Gamble and Kingfisher plc. All of which, took part in roundtable discussions and actively worked their way through a comprehensive programme.
During the conference, topical questions were raised such as whether or not a robust international deal is still desirable? And how do we overcome the political barriers.
The whole activity looked at how companies could overcome certain barriers more efficiently and focus on driving change within the work sector. Influencing government to take more action and avoid a ‘climate summit abject failure’ such as Copenhagen.
Managing Director, Bernard McKeown from CADmeleon said,
"Attending the Deal or No Deal event was a great experience and it is heartening to see such a commitment from a number of the UK's top organisations.
Their commitment and the backing of HRH the Prince of Wales will go a long way to creating further awareness of the serious implications of climate change. I also think it is important that these events and the initiatives described here are the thoughts that drive the low carbon economy into the next phase."

The Prince’s Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership is an internationally recognised programme, which builds the capacity of leaders to respond to contemporary societal challenges. Prince Charles himself set up the Rainforest trust and has witnessed what is happening to the ecosystem. Therefore he stresses how important it is for all major organisations to be involved and actively influence those sceptical of climate change. Procedures such as the deal or no deal event subtly remind people of the importance on climate change and prompt vigorous discussion which hopefully leads to action.
