2-Day event marks the end of an era for famous Johns Creek Landmark
Iconic mega mansion, Dean Gardens, will hold a two-day estate sale and grand farewell party on Friday, August 20 and continued sale on Saturday, August 21, 2010. Built by entrepreneur Larry Dean in 1992, the 32,000 square foot Johns Creek home was recently sold and will be deconstructed shortly after the event. The estate has provided a luxurious location for numerous charity events and parties as well as remained a subject of speculation and mystique. This event will provide an opportunity to say goodbye and lay speculation to rest while gaining a first look and opportunity to own a piece of this neo-classical mansion.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit Luminocity Atlanta, a 360 degree performance art and music light parade that is slated to premiere in Atlanta, November 26, 2010. Larry Dean chose to support Luminocity through this sale as a way to give back to Atlanta and the civic mission that Luminocity represents. Founder of Luminocity Kelly Nelson states, “We are so thankful to Larry Dean for helping support our progress while creating for himself a lasting legacy through Luminocity. What better way to show our thanks than by throwing the party of the year in a farewell celebration tied to this momentous estate sale.”
Friday’s gala will offer a first viewing of sale and will also showcase a preview of Luminocity Atlanta in the luxury of Dean Gardens melding light, aerial dance and live performances together amongst the grand items for sale. Hor d'oeuvres and cocktails will be served. Advance tickets are $100 for the gala on Friday and include complimentary admission to the continued sale on Saturday. Advance tickets for Saturday’s closing event are $35 and include Saturday viewing of sale, light bites, music and cocktails. Ticket costs will be refunded for purchases exceeding $1,500.
Dean Gardens is a home unlike any other. With 13 bathrooms and 8 bedrooms in the main home, a multitude of themes appear throughout including the Egyptian bathroom, complete with a sarcophagus, to the malachite bathroom with a 24-karat gold sink. Notable items for sale include a replica 1950s soda fountain and Moroccan-themed home theatre with pieces from Atlanta’s Fabulous Fox Theatre, artwork by Atlantan Todd Murphy, antique brass and mahogany double front doors (once the entrance to the Chicago Cotton Exchange), columns from the Casino de Monte Carlo, a handmade black lacquer table inlaid with malachite with egg and dart detailing that seats 24, and much more.
Walter Golden of Golden’s Appraisal Service, a full-service auction and appraisal service based in Woodstock, GA, will manage the estate sale. To purchase tickets, please visithttp://deangardens.eventbrite.com. To learn more about Luminocity Atlanta, visit www.LuminocityAtlanta.com.
