Aug. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- Ferrari has a long history in the sport of Formula One; it is the oldest team and probably the most popular team in Grand Prix Motor racing.

The symbol of the racing team is the Carvallino Rampante which is commonly known as the prancing horse.  This is a black prancing stallion on a yellow shield with the letters S F (that stands for Scuderia Ferrari) and has three stripes of green, white and red at the top (these are the national colours of Italy)

They produced their first Ferrari road car in 1947 it was the 125 Sport, this was powered by a 1.5 L V12 engine.  Enzo was reluctant to build this and sell the car to fund the team which is known as the Scuderia.  Enzo's passionate personality served his company and racing team well for decades and had seen him fight off rivals to make sure Ferrari was on top.  Ferrari boycotted the Grand Prix for in 1968 after the performance of the big V8 – powered Ford at the 1967 Le mans, FIA decided that prototypes over 3000cc, which also affected the Ferrari 330P models. This was announced in late 1967 and came in effect for 1968, and the Scuderia did not take part in Sports car racing in order to protest this but came back the following year.  They had ups and downs over the next 30 years but dominated again in the early part of the millennium.

The Racing colour of the team is Rosso Corsa; it is the red international motor racing colour of cars entered by teams from Italy.  Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia and Abarth have also been painted in Rosso Corsa, known in English as ‘racing red’.  This user to be the national racing colour of Italy as it was recommended between the world wars by organisations that would later become FIA.  In contrast French cars were racing in blue and British Cars were green.  In 1968 national colours were replaced by sponsors in various other teams but Ferrari has kept their traditional red, although sometimes the shade does sometimes vary.

In 1964 Ferrari won the world championship with John Surtees, competing the last two races in Ferrari 158 cars painted white and blue - the national colours of the teams from the United States - as these were entered not by the Italian factory themselves but by the US-based NART team. This was done as a protest against the agreement between Ferrari and the Italian Racing Authorities regarding their planned mid-engine Ferrari race car.

The team has achieved an unparalleled success in Formula One which includes a lot of records being held, they have won the most constructor championships which is 16, the most with 15 driver championships, have started the most Grands Prix started 804, they have won the most of all time 804 and 15 in a season. They have won the most podiums both of all time 636 and in the season 29 times.  They have a lot of others such as most one-two finishes and pole positions so the teams owners over the years has certainly had good reason to celebrate at their villas in Italy.
