Aug. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Dr. Paul Hansen studied my x-rays intently, then turned to me and asked, “How old are you, Carolyn?”

I didn’t like the look on his face and my heart pounded in my throat. “I turned twenty-eight last month.”

Dr. Hansen shook his head and concentrated a few minutes more on the x-rays. Finally, he turned off the viewing box lights and sat down in front of me. “You have degenerative bone disease, Carolyn,” he stated without preamble. “Your spine is that of a 90-year-old woman and there's not much we can do for you. The truth is, you’ll probably be in a wheelchair by the time you’re thirty-five.”

He spoke without any emotion, as if he was reciting a lunch menu, but those casually spoken words ricocheted through my head, bounced off the walls, and made no sense to me. I was the mother of a beautiful two-year-old little girl and the wife of an important executive with a huge oil company. I had an enormous house to run, and entertaining to do. There had to be a mistake! I had way too much on my plate for something like this.

I tried to pull myself together and asked the one question I thought might buy me a little time. “Are you sure?”

He nodded. “I’ve seen this before, Carolyn, but it’s usually in people much older than you. You just need to accept this and make plans for your future, because one day you'll go down and never get up again.”

Crossover Publications is pleased to announce the August 2010 release of HEALING MUSIC by Carolyn Huebner Rankin. Healing Music is the story of Carolyn Rankin’s healing journey through the crippling effect of Degenerative Bone Disease. After years of pain, loss of mobility, and hopeless diagnosis Carolyn experienced restorative correction and healing at the hands of God and some very skilled and special physicians at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Thanks to the skill and care of her surgeons, Dr. Karl W. Swann and Dr. Robert G. Johnson of Neurosurgical Associates of San Antonio and to the 9th floor staff of Methodist Hospital, their outstanding care and dedication made all the difference in her recovery. Carolyn also wishes to express her heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Greg M. Jackson for continuing to walk with her through her life's journey.

But the story doesn't stop there. During her recovery and rehabilitation she also experienced something quite supernatural and unexpected, Healing Music from heavenly sources. This story of pain and endurance ends with a song. A song of healing, a song of worship, and a song of courage made possible by a faithful God and a woman's faith to stand in the face of impossibility refusing to accept defeat and opinion. A woman determined to press through the crowds and obstacles of life to touch the garment hem of the life giver.

Carolyn's remarkable story is available now from BarnesandNoble.com, Amazon.com or CrossoverPublications.com.
