Author's First Book Expo Is A Valuable Experience

Aug. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Atlanta, GA -- Author Felicia Coley's first experience as a book expo exhibitor was in the First Annual Atlanta Black Book Expo held Saturday, August 7 at Georgia International Convention Center.  Coley was there to promote her book titled, "How To Stylishly Fall From Grace".

"Being that it was my first book expo, I went into it with eyes and ears open to learn," says Coley.  Of the 100 authors and literary professionals that participated in the expo, the shoe blogger-turned-author was eager to be part of such an important day.  "What I was really impressed by was the immediate warmth of fellow authors, not to mention valuable tips I received from those who are veterans in book expos," Coley states.

As attendees browsed her table, many complimented the title of the book, as well as the cover design.  "These are things we as authors need to hear from the buying public: what works, their suggestions, etc.  For example, I had one women who wanted the book on Kindle, which was the first request for me," says Coley.

Many women - and a few men - made a beeline to her table display, thanks to the studded and bejeweled stiletto that was a giveaway from Ohio Shoe Artist Lauren Luna.  A hot pink iPad case from Rainebrooke was also gifted to one lucky book customer.

"I was surprised to see how many customers were actual writers seeking advice," Coley reflects.  "Next to book sales, that was the highlight of the event:  knowing that I gave aspiring authors encouragement to go forward with their dreams."
