New Nanny and Tutor Business Helps Build Stronger Families

Aug. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Local couple Greg and Linda Tarsa, are proud to announce the Grand Opening of their new business College Nannies & Tutors of Cary!  The company provides in-home tutoring and is a one-stop provider of professional nanny services addressing the biggest challenges in obtaining individualized childcare services: finding the nanny, employing the nanny and back-up care when the nanny is sick or otherwise unavailable. Both graduates of Carnegie-Mellon University, with three children in college and graduate schools, the CNT mission of Building Stronger Families® was one Linda and Greg could take on with a personal passion.

When Greg lost his job as a Software Engineering Manager in the spring of 2009, like many in the same situation, he had to answer the question, “What next?”   He approached his job hunt with a great deal of energy but felt, “the economic climate was extraordinarily challenging for everyone in this area, particularly high-tech managers. If I was going to find satisfying work, it was going to have to be a career change.”

His job search became a successful one, even if it did not result in any job offers.  As Tarsa describes, “the time I spent, the skills I honed, the things I learned and the people I met during my search all made made me a better person and prepared me for whatever my next step was going to be.”  He became a regular at job networking groups and one week he attended a presentation, “Starting Your Own Business or Franchise,” presented by Dan Prendergast of the Entrepreneur’s Source—a local franchise coach.  After a series of meetings with Prendergast in which he was introduced to the concept of small business ownership, tested for aptitude and interests, and presented with three compatible franchise business models. He chose College Nannies and Tutors, “because I like working with sharp people and there is a lot of interaction with college students and educated parents in this business.” And there is a strong need.
