Biodegradable Food Service Announces New Earth Bowl Containers and CPLA” lid for the Earth

Aug. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Biodegradable Food Service LLC (BDFS) is pleased to announce the introduction of the Earth Bowl, its new series of biodegradable paper food containers with BDFS’s proprietary plant-based interior coating.  In addition, the company is now offering new “crystallized” PLA (CPLA) hot cup lids for its Kraft Earth Cup and for the new Earth Bowl.
The Earth Bowl is a series of 8, 12, 16, and 32 ounce single-use containers, ideal for moist or liquid items such as soup, sauces, frozen yogurt, and side-dish salads.  For single-serving to-go, or bulk take-home sales, the different sizes and eco-friendly composition accommodate a wide range of sustainable appetites.  Their exterior is a white color, decorated with the company’s attractive green Earth Bowl script and logo.
Translucent in appearance, different sizes of the new CPLA lid will be offered to accompany the Earth Bowl (EB-xx) and Kraft Earth Cup (KECH-xx) lines.  The CPLA lids offer a premium fit on the entire range of the two products.  The cutting-edge treatment of the familiar cold-food PLA material makes it sufficiently heat- and moisture-resistant to withstand the temperature and condensation from a steaming cup of coffee, soup, or any other hot food or liquid.  
Kevin Duffy, BDFS’s president, emphasized the ancestry of the new lids.  “Our original TaterWare lid for the Earth Cup was unique, since early on it was the only biodegradable lid option for a hot drink cup.  We’re excited to offer yet another compostable hot beverage system for those customers interested in a rigid biodegradable lid that virtually snaps into place.”
Earth Bowl and CPLA lid availability are currently slated for late August 2010.
