Newspaper Endorsements Mount For Republican Dan Molloy in Florida District 57 Legislative RaceDan Molloy, Republican candidate for the Florida Legislature has received the editorial endorsements of The Tampa Tribune, La Gaceta, and the St. Petersburg Times in the District 57 primary.
By: MPA Consulting The St. Petersburg Times, The Tampa Tribune, and La Gaceta were unanimous in their editorial support for Molloy in the race for the open legislative seat in Hillsborough County. The St. Petersburg Times in an editorial published August 7th pointed out that, "Molloy has been much more engaged in charting a course for this community. He knows the political process and he has crossover appeal, an important consideration if Republicans want to prevail in November." La Gaceta in the August 6th edition noted, "Dan Molloy is a thoughtful, intelligent and reasonable candidate. He wants to modernize our antiquated sales tax collection system and reduce the employment roles of state government. Strenghtening our universities and improving our infrastructure are the only viable ways to attract high-tech and green jobs, according to Molloy." A July 30th editorial in The Tampa Tribune said of Molloy, "His agenda is to reduce state spending by, among other things, cutting the number of state employees. He wants to explore ways to collect sales taxes owed on remote sales because the current system is 'tremendously unfair to local merchants.' Molloy is well-informed and persuasive." Dan Molloy is a real estate attorney, a fifty year resident of Tampa, and the immediate past president of the Tampa Bay Builders Association. He graduated from the University of Florida Law School, is a former assistant state attorney, and served on the Hillsborough County Consumer Protection Board. Molloy has been engaged in a grassroots political campaign to advance his goals to reduce state spending, stimulate private sector jobs, eliminate government excess, create a better business climate, promote learning opportunities, and protect Florida's natural resources. On Monday, August 9th, voters in District 57 will begin voting at three locations within the district; Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Library, Town 'N Country Regional Library, and the Upper Tampa Bay Regional Library. The voting hours are 10 AM until 6 PM, Monday through Saturday, until August 21st. Vote by Mail ballots are also available until August 18th and can be requested from the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections at (813) 272-5850 or www.votehillsborough.org.
