New 68 Room Boutique Hotel in Eugene, Oregon
Fifth Street Public Market (Market) have announced they are moving forward with building a new hotel in Downtown Eugene. The hotel has been named, “INN AT THE 5TH.” Building permits are submitted and groundbreaking is set for late August.
INN AT THE 5TH will be a very special boutique hotel with many unique and interesting features. Just a few of the features include local art pieces throughout, a flowered balcony or window seat in every room with valet parking for guests. The INN is being integrated into the current 5th Street Market, sharing the many walkways, flowered courtyard and eclectic merchants of the market. The new development will include other enhancements including the changes to and enlargement of the Gervais Salon and Elephant’s Trunk Toy Store. More information will be provided soon on these exciting developments, in addition to the announcement of other new tenants slated to take advantage of the hotel addition. Brian Obie, market principal, added, “as the dust settles other spaces will be available that are strategically placed to take advantage of the opportunity created by the hotel guests.”
Brand development for the INN AT THE 5TH began last year. Local brand design firm, Funk/Levis & Associates worked with the Market’s team to develop a name, logo and visual brand for the hotel. While the grand opening for the hotel is not scheduled until next summer, the Market will be hosting a one- of- a-kind “Unveiling Event” in late September 2010. The entire community will be invited to attend the event and witness what Market insiders are calling “a life-size unveiling.” More details about the Unveiling Event will follow. Obie says, “You will want to be at the Market on September 24th!”
When asked to comment on the Development, Brian Obie, principal owner of the Market said, “I want to express my appreciation to the many investors, the City of Eugene, Lane Council of Governments (which facilitated our U.S. Government SBA Loan), Selco Credit Union, Oregon Community Credit Union and Wells Fargo Bank. Whom without all their help and belief in this community and project, this special boutique hotel would never have happened.”
Part of the INN AT THE 5TH’s brand will be to continue the Market’s commitment to providing fine local foods, goods and services to those who live in and visit our community. Obie further indicated it is our desire to display in the INN the work of local artists, of all categories. Special attention will be paid to utilize the products and services that are currently available throughout the Market. It is our desire that the guest experience be one that interfaces with the Market. Artists and retailers interested in being a part of this new and exciting development are encouraged to set up an appointment by calling 541-484-0383 or contacting email@example.com.
