Aug. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- The state of Florida’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (FLESGR) Committee Members and honored James Dicks at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida July 30-31, 2010 for this year’s Annual Planning and Awards Conference (APAC).

Mr. Dicks was awarded with the Joe Savarese Spirit of Volunteerism FLESGR Volunteer of the Year award for his total commitment to the mission of the ESGR in the state of Florida.  Joe Savarese was the first Chairman of the Florida ESGR, which is a volunteer position.  The award is named after Mr. Savarese based upon his own dedication and enthusiasm as a volunteer.

The citation honoring Mr. Dicks states, “For exceptional volunteer service from 2009 to 2010, Mr. Dicks volunteered over 500 hours this year, contacting the highest number of organizations that employ National Guard and Reservists.  He worked with the Florida Law Enforcement agencies and on May 13th had 980 agencies signed Statements of Support that contributed significantly to increase ESGR awareness and helped to accomplish the ESGR mission.  Mr. Dicks’ outstanding achievements and devotion to the men and women serving in the National Guard and Reserve are in keeping with the highest traditions of the Florida ESGR committee and reflect great credit upon himself, the national ESGR committee, the Department of Defense and the United States.”

The Florida ESGR Chairman, Phillip Speake, told the FLESGR volunteer committee members and dignitaries in attendance, “James Dicks’ sincere attention to the needs of the employers and to the gallant men and women of the National Guard and Reserve that US businesses and government agencies are supporting in this time of international conflict, is the key to success.  If the military member knows their job will be waiting for them when they return from active duty, they can then concentrate on the mission at hand, their military responsibilities at home and abroad.  James has done much to foster that spirit through his distinguished efforts within the Florida ESGR.”

ESGR is a Department of Defense organization and its committee members volunteer their time in support of the men and women of the Guard and Reserve, their families and employers.  There are 11,000 employers in the state of Florida that have hired National Guard and reserve personnel. As the 1.3 million members (38,000 in Florida) of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions within America’s borders as well as on the most dangerous battlefields around the world, ESGR will continue to be the resource for the employers of our citizen warriors.  More information about ESGR Employer Outreach and volunteer programs is available at www.ESGR.mil or by calling 1-800-336-4590.
