QA Graphics Creates Interactive Game for Use on Liberty Island

QA Graphics created an interactive puzzle that is on display on two 46-inch touch screens for visitors to enjoy when they visit the new Retail Pavilion at the Statue of Liberty.

Aug. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- QA Graphics, a Midwest interactive design company, has successfully completed an interactive design project, consisting of two interactive puzzles now on display at the new Retail Pavilion at the Statue of Liberty in New York’s Harbor.

The Retail Pavilion owned by Evelyn Hill, Inc., opened June 16 and is the latest gift shop to open on Liberty Island, offering visitors information and memorabilia to remember their Liberty Island visit. QA Graphics worked with Evelyn Hill to design a custom user interface consisting of two interactive puzzles that are displayed on two 46-inch touchscreens in the Retail Pavilion. Each interactive puzzle consists of 20 pieces and when completed represents a picture of the Statue of Liberty.  One puzzle shows a close-up image of Lady Liberty and the American Flag, and the second shows a full image of the Statue from base to torch.

“Developing interactive games like puzzles of the Statue of Liberty is considered more ‘fun’ than ‘work’ for our creative team,” said Dan McCarty, president and owner of QA Graphics. “Projects like this allow room for creativity and everyone at the office wants to help test the games out.”

When visitors go to Liberty Island and stop by the Retail Pavilion, they can walk right up to the touchscreens and choose an interactive puzzle to complete. The games are designed to be appropriate for children and are enjoyable by all ages.  Users can choose to see hints to help put together the puzzle, and when they complete it they can re-scramble that puzzle and start over or choose to complete the second one.  On the display, viewers can also learn fun facts about Liberty Island and Lady Liberty, like what the different features on the statue represent, how many stairs are involved when climbing to the top, how tall the statue is, and how many pounds of steel it took to construct Lady Liberty.

“Displaying these interactive games on large displays in the Retail Pavilion has really been an attention-getter,” said Brad Hill, president of Evelyn Hill. “We wanted to provide our visitors some entertainment in addition to shopping when they stop by the Pavilion, and people of all ages are walking up and having fun trying out their puzzle skills.”

Evelyn Hill has received several recognitions for the company’s environmental awareness in the last few years and is seeking a LEED Platinum rating from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for the new Retail Pavilion on Liberty Island. To showcase the Retail Pavilion’s sustainable initiatives, QA Graphics is also working with Evelyn Hill to develop an Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard, another interactive display to be used on Liberty Island, which will provide educational information about the structure’s green features and display real-time resource use.

Interactive solutions like the puzzles and the Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard are great resources for museums, zoos and other attraction areas to provide eye-catching displays and further engage their visitors.  QA Graphics creates a variety of graphical user interfaces (GUI) and interactive multimedia content used as educational resources, sales tools, advertising and other display needs.  To learn how you can benefit from custom interactive content and GUI design, contact QA Graphics.
