Olympic Greats Compete in 2010 ConocoPhillips National Championship

Aug. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- Amanda Beard will join over 30 other Olympians as she returns to the pool to compete in the 2010 National Championships Aug. 3-7 in Irvine, Calif. alongside fellow PMG swimmers Aaron Peirsol, Eric Shanteau, Cullen Jones, Jason Lezak, Clark Burckle, David Walters, Amanda Beard, Kate Ziegler, Caroline Burckle, Margaret Hoelzer, Jessica Hardy, Lara Jackson and Amanda Weir.

Former Olympian and swimming legend Rowdy Gaines will serve as the analyst for the event to be aired live Aug. 3 (6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. PST) and 4 (6p.m. to 8 p.m. PST) on Universal Sports. NBC will also broadcast two shows on Aug. 7 (4p.m. to 6 p.m. EST) and Aug. 8 (4:30 p.m.to 6 p.m. EST).

The meet will take place at the William Woolett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine and is the biggest swimming events of the year. The meet will serve as the selection meet for the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships which will take place in Irvine, Aug. 18-22, and will feature top competitors from Japan, Australia, Canada and more than 20 other countries. Both Nationals and the Pan Pacific Championships will serve as the selection meets for the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China.
