Join us for a Night of Cocktails to Support our Troops

Aug. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- (Atlanta, Georgia) In partnership to launch an initiative for support and awareness, The National Society of Pershing Angels and The Wounded Warriors Project will host their first annual charity event, “COCKTAILS FOR A CAUSE” in Atlanta on August 7, 2010. The purpose of this charitable event is to raise social awareness, empower community involvement, and most importantly increase monetary funding for wounded veteran soldiers and the women who serve our country in combat.

This is event will be held in Atlanta’s beautiful downtown district of Buckhead at the MF Buckhead Room located at 3280 Peachtree Street Atlanta, GA.  The evening will begin with a red carpet media event at 10:30pm followed by night of specialty cocktails, exotic dessert display and silent auction hosted by 2009 Miss Black Georgia.  During this amazing charity event we encourage the city of Atlanta to support and help make a difference in the lives of those that help protect our country.

About The National Society of Pershing Angels:
In 1964, a group of 30 ladies started a society at Morgan State College (now Morgan State University). It was not until February 9, 1965, that they were recognized as what is now the ONLY national drill sorority, The National Society of Pershing Angels.  In doing so, these outstanding women became a part of CAPERS organized at the University of Oklahoma in 1962 by the Kaydettes. Pershing Angels functioned as a local entity until expanding to encompass other drill teams and Pershing Rifles Auxiliary groups at, Florida A&M University, Norfolk State University, Hampton University and Howard University.

About The Wounded Warriors Project:

Wounded Warrior Project is a 501 c 3 non- profit organization that began when several individuals took small, inspired actions to help others in need. One night while watching the evening news, a group of veterans and brothers were moved by the difficult stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq. They realized then and there that something needed to be done for these brave individuals beyond the brass bands and ticker tape parades. The resulting objective was to provide tangible support for the severely wounded and help them on the road to healing, both physically and mentally.
