Governor Nixon Delays Issuance Of Missouri Tax Credits

Aug. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- It seems Governor Nixon is using administrative powers to delay the tax credit programs set in place by the Missouri legislature.

The move is in response to the failed attempts earlier this year to abolish the tax programs. If successful, Nixon will be able to suspend the program that funds historic building operations in Missouri. Nixon believes the Missouri budget is not able to sustain the tax credit program, much to the dismay of restoration and construction efforts.

Other tax credits, such as those that fund low-income housing projects, will also be on the cutting board.

Whether or not Nixon can delay the tax credits indefinitely remains to be seen. Those not in favor of the plan claim it will severely hurt the Missouri historical economy, and efforts should be placed elsewhere to find budget cuts.
