Aug. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- The expression "gangsta" comes from "gangster" or a street criminal. During the Prohibition Era, gangsters, like Al Capone donned double-breasted pinstripe suits. The more expensive the attire, the more feared the criminal. Snazzy suits and John Dillinger hats portrayed an image of bravado and fierceness in the wearer. The usual accessories included, submachine guns, revolvers, pistols and a willingness to use them. As eras changed, so did the term "gangsta". Society has been fascinated with gangsters both onscreen and in real life. Flashy suits, dark sunglasses and expensive cars have appealed to both men and women. Men are drawn to the mystery and danger present in the underground world of gangsters. Aside from the violence and excitement often seen onscreen, gangsters are known for their sharp sense of style. So where do true gangstas get their gear? Just about anywhere, honestly. They appreciate the finer things in life-Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci-but they also know that they can look just as fresh in a plain white tee from Target. The common dressing style today is when referring to gangster can be best described as "baggy" or  even"sloppy". To dress to today's gangster fashion; you must first find a pair of jeans and put them on but let them hang to your knees. Secure them at your knees with a belt and you’re done!!If you wear shorts.. The key to show as much as your boxer shorts as possible. Shirts should be long but short enough that it is obvious your pants are around your knees. Shirts can vary in color. Gangster accessories include items such as a cell phone fastened to one's boot loop, offering more pending jean sag towards the knee area. Another common accessory is the do-rag. This can be tied around the head of the person wearing it or hanging from the back pocket. Those that are actually affiliated with gangs will choose the color that represents their perspective gang. Some people consider gangsta, ghetto, and urban to be interchangeable; if you are one of those folks, consider buying popular brands like Ecko, Phat Farm, Enyce, Baby Phat, Roca Wear, Apple Bottoms (Nelly's brand), and House of Dereon (Beyonce's brand).
