Riding For A Cause

Plantation Equestrian Center, FL - July 31, 2010 -      The Organ Donor Awareness Foundation is holding a Charity Horse Show to help benefit the children and families of organ donor heroes. It will take place at the Plantation Equestrian Center on Saturday, July 31, 2010. Competition starts at 9 AM and spectators are welcome all day. The show is also sponsored in part by the Funies Foundation, which provides riding therapy for special needs riders. Some of these riders will also be participants in the show.

The horse show has been made entirely possible by the incredible response from a very giving community. All of the judges for the horse show have volunteered their services for the day. The hand-crafted jumps used for competition have been donated by Butch Medlin, who runs the Heritage Horse Show circuit. Local equestrian businesses have jumped at the chance to give gift certificates. Businesses, restaurants, vendors and individuals have donated over $4000 in prizes, gift certificates and services for a benefit raffle. Every show helper is a volunteer. And incredibly, riders in the show are even volunteering to help run it in between the classes they are entering.

About Organ Donor Awareness Foundation

The Organ Donor Awareness Foundation is a nonprofit organization which was founded by a 54 year old heart transplant patient, Neal Bira.  The Foundation, along with Neal, is managed by a very special group of concerned and dedicated volunteers.  Neal is just one of those people who always wants to do for others. The most difficult part of his illness was not about him, but about the children of the man who donated his heart.

Neal's goal is to increase organ donor awareness and to raise money for education, life's necessities and provide professional support for the children and families of organ donor heroes.

It is the families and in particular the children who are many times forgotten when an organ donor hero passes away. ODAF is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization so your contribution is fully tax deductible.
