Aug. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- PORT TOWSEND, Wash. (August 3, 2010) – Failsafe Technology, Inc., a leading provider of infrastructure sensing technology, today announced it has acquired Picton Technologies and its infrastructure monitoring technology known as the Picton Ballast Integrity Sensor.
The acquisition strengthens Failsafe’s current offerings by providing Picton’s infrastructure monitoring technology. The acquisition enables the government, military and commercial organizations with limited allocations to receive early detection and alerts of possible catastrophic events.
“We are pleased to have added Picton Technology to our growing line-up of technologies, that simply put, save lives,” said Brad David, CEO of Failsafe Technology. “With all the recent news concerning sinkholes and train derailments, it is imperative to deploy our Integrity Sensors in as many areas as possible.”
Failsafe Technology offers a robust offering of reliable technology solutions that provide early detection and alerts of catastrophic ground shifting activity that could cause bridge and overpass collapses, pipeline and aqueduct collapses, train derailments and a range of other infrastructure failure issues. The Picton® Integrity Sensor™ provides a quickly deployable and reliable stand alone solution to a costly, complicated and currently unsolved global problem.
Installation of this device could mean incalculable savings each year in washouts created by flooding or plugged culverts, sinkholes and side-scour. The integrity devices will detect railroad track buckling due to sun kink and lateral movement of track caused by heavier axle loads, damage to bridge structures over highways and waterways, issues with building foundations, and any shift in wireless or power towers.
