This is despite the fact that customers are now demanding higher levels of security and increased traceability for their vehicles while they are in the care of their dealership, during servicing for example. iB wants to set up an industry forum to discuss and agree best practice and requirements of key management systems prior to publishing a Key Management Best Practice Guide in the autumn. Key management systems can now be integrated into customer relationship management (CRM), dealer management systems (DMS), IP-Surveillance and other dealer-based IT systems to provide real-time information on the location of vehicles on-screen for the benefit of servicing, sales staff and ultimately customers. Effective key management increases efficiency by reducing the time to trace lost keys. It also helps generate near instant stock audits and, through network links to other dealer sites, enables management of inter-site stock transfer.
