Nike Running Van West to Be At the Kevin Cook Spirit Run

Fountain Valley, CA, (August 1, 2010)—Nike Footwear will be offering free running shoe consulting for participants and spectators as well at the 5th annual Kevin Cook 5K Spirit Run at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley, CA September 4, 2010.
Nike’s specially equipped Running Van West mobile tutorial and training van will be at  the 5th annual Kevin Cook 5K Spirit Run to show marathoners and casual runners alike what they need to know about proper running shoe support and fittings.
   “We are excited to have the Nike Running Van West back for the second year in a row. It’s a wonderful opportunity for runners to see and hear from the experts on what constitutes a proper running shoe for the level of running that an individual does,” said Luke Farnell, President of the Kevin Cook Memorial Foundation that sponsors the annual 5K in memory of Kevin Cook.
   The annual Kevin Cook 5K Spirit Run is held in memory of Kevin Cook, a student athlete who died in a motorcycle accident at the age of 24.  The Kevin Cook Memorial Foundation was established following his death as a way to honor his achievements on and off the sports fields and tracks, and to donate scholarships to qualifying athlete-scholars and grants to various local high schools’ cross country teams.
   450 runners took part in the 2009 5K Kevin Cook Spirit Run, and organizers are expecting more than 500 for the 2010 event.
