July 28, 2010 - PRLog -- Chicago, IL – July 28, 2010 – According to HR Solutions’ normative data, nursing staff is differentiating on its Employee Engagement Survey results, revealing unsatisfied nursing employees compared to their healthcare peers.

HR Solutions complied and evaluated the data below from HR Solutions’ Sweet 16® Engagement Survey instrument where two differences were highlighted; the necessary materials and equipment needed to perform well and the level of concern senior management has for their employees.  For both items below, nursing scored significantly lower (eight points).

Survey Item    - The necessary materials and equipment are available when I need to perform my job
Healthcare % Favorable - 73, Nursing % Favorable - 65

Survey Item    - Senior management of this organization is concerned about the employees
Healthcare % Favorable - 56, Nursing % Favorable - 48

Healthcare organizations should take this research into consideration and assess the potential outcomes of declining Employee Engagement within nursing, which can ultimately lead to turnover and unwanted organizational outcomes.  Healthcare organizations that do not provide essential materials or communicate commitment on an individual basis to their nursing employees are at risk for failed employee-management relationships and quality job results.  With the workforce shortage on the horizon, Employee Engagement is critical to future workplace success and satisfied patients.
