July 28, 2010 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, N.C. – The Dune Dogs (, which consists of area executives playing “country-fried swamp ‘n’ roll music,” has been named the Best Roots/Country Band by Independent Weekly’s 2010 Best of the Triangle awards.  Winners are selected by readers’ polls.  For more information and all winners, visit

“We are honored to be named the Best Roots/Country Band by Independent Weekly,” said Finchman, a Dune Dogs member.  “We love playing for our fans, so it is great to know that the rest of the Triangle enjoys it as well.”

- The Dune Dogs recently completed their spring tour, on which they played shows in Durham, Southern Pines, Ocracoke and Blowing Rock, N.C.

- Past shows include a celebration hosted by CED (formerly known as the Council for Entrepreneurial Development) to commemorate the organization’s 25th anniversary, and a Halloween Ball hosted by Carolina Brewing Company at the Pavilions at the Angus Barn.

Conceived and delivered on Ocracoke Island in 2002, the Dune Dogs’ rural blend of hard-core country and southern rock ‘n’ roll prove that a lack of talent and professionalism are not necessarily impediments to good vibes and the “humble endings” of a DUNE DOG experience.  The Dune Dogs are:  Dusty Baker (guitar, bass, vocals); “Hillbilly” Dickerson (guitar, bass, vocals); JimChris Dott (bass, keyboards, mandolin, vocals); Finchman (vocals, harmonics); Dick Turben (drums, percussion, vocals); and Trent D. Goatboy (drums, bass, banjo, percussion, vocals).  For more information, visit
