GSA Application Services Gears Up as DOD’s Aquisition Plan Points to Increased Use of GSA Schedule

One way to cut spending from the military budget is by increasing the use of contracts negotiated by other agencies, particularly the General Services Administration.  At a Coalition for Government Procurement breakfast, Shay Assad, Defense Department director of procurement and acquisition policy, said the department has ramped up training for its contracting officers on how to use the GSA Schedules.  “If you provide value and expertise, we’re going to come to you,” Assad said.  “We want to use tools like the GSA Schedules effectively.”
