There are 2.5 times as many women as there are men with RA. Fortunately, the Arthritis Foundation offers resources for the 1.3 million Americans living with RA. Let’s Talk RA is a program designed to give people with RA the resources they need to better connect with their rheumatologist to treat their RA. The Arthritis Foundation improves thousands of lives through program, services, information and referral, as well as professional and patient education. Staff and volunteers conduct patient service programs including public forums, seminars, health fairs, self-help groups, speaking engagements, Juvenile Arthritis summer camps and newly-diagnosed JA backpack program. The Mid Atlantic Region conducts public education forums about arthritis and the programs and services of the Arthritis Foundation. Professional education and training are provided to healthcare professionals to increase knowledge of the disease for better treatment and care of arthritis patients. The Arthritis Foundation has funded and sponsored research for over 50 years resulting in major treatment advances for many forms of arthritis.
