Taekwon-Do Center affiliates with international federation

CRANFORD -The Taekwon-Do Center, a traditional martial arts school, has become a member of the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF).

July 27, 2010 - PRLog -- The federation, formed in Seoul, South Korea, was established by General Choi, Hong Hi, who developed Taekwon-Do over 50 years ago. The organization fosters the teaching and art of traditional Taekwon-Do according to five core principles:

•   Courtesy
•   Integrity
•   Perseverance
•   Self Control
•   Indomitable Spirit

“The International Taekwon-Do Federation is a link to where it all began,” said Sa Bum Nim Robert Schneider, The Taekwon-Do Center’s master instructor. “With member schools in almost every country around the globe, the federation provides a solid support system in teaching and with international resources such as worldwide competitions and seminars. Joining the federation is good for The Taekwon-Do Center, good for our members and good for Cranford.”

The Taekwon-Do Center (29 Alden St., Taekwon-docenter.com) continues the tradition of teaching the original style of Taekwon-Do. This highly aerobic and anaerobic style is practiced in a serious, non-commercial, traditional martial arts environment for all ages. Progress is earned through dedication and hard work.

Sa Bum Nim Robert Schneider is also a certified instructor under the federation. His nearly 40 years experience in Taekwon-Do coupled with this new affiliation will further help people find a balance between family life, school, work and Taekwon-Do.

“Taekwon-Do is more than martial arts,” he explained. “It is a tool for social development. So we must practice Taekwon-Do not just for ourselves, but to improve life in our community. It can be a powerful tool to help solve social problems such as drug abuse, bullying, sexual assault, juvenile delinquency, and obesity by providing structure, discipline and self-confidence that carry over into all aspects of life.
