By: Zooppa

July 23, 2010 - PRLog -- SEATTLE – Telepictures Productions is joining forces with Zooppa, the world’s largest source of user-generated advertising, to launch a promotion for Telepictures’ “TMZ,” the ultimate source for Hollywood’s hottest headlines and breaking entertainment news, that will give viewers a chance to produce commercials promoting the syndicated series. The so-called “crowdsourced” TV advertising campaign will ask Zooppa’s 66,000 strong creative community to capture the theme, “We love Hollywood. We just have a funny way of showing it.” From June 14th to August 9th, creatives from around the world will have eight weeks to interpret and respond to the creative brief posted on Zooppa’s website.

Telepictures is looking for highly original videos that mirror the humorous spirit of “TMZ.” Video entries must be based on the theme “We love Hollywood. We just have a funny way of showing it.” Submissions are required to be exactly 12-seconds or 27-seconds and meet HD broadcast standards. Entries will have the chance to be aired as commercials on national television. A total of $15,000 will be awarded to four grand prize winners. The top three grand prize winners will be selected exclusively by Telepictures and the Zooppa staff will select one additional winner.

“TMZ has very strong viewer loyalty and has redefined the legitimate entertainment news brand,” said Blake Bryant, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Telepictures Productions. “Consumers look to TMZ for the latest entertainment news told in TMZ's own unique, funny voice. We thought giving actual viewers a shot at creating their own take on advertising the brand would be a fascinating process, and Zooppa is the company to do that for us.”

Zooppa CEO, Wil Merritt stated, “We are thrilled to be working with Telepictures on behalf of TMZ. The way that TMZ is revolutionizing Hollywood news reporting parallels Zooppa’s innovation in the world of adverting.”

The TMZ competition is one of over 100 user-generated advertising campaigns launched on Zooppa’s crowdsourcing platform and creative social network since 2007. Zooppa’s previous clients include top brands such as Nike, Google, General Mills, GoDaddy.com, and Microsoft.

Zooppa’s active competitions, including TMZ, can be found at zooppa.com/contests.

ABOUT TMZ: Launched in 2005, TMZ’s meteoric rise followed its exclusive on one of the biggest global stories in entertainment: breaking the news of Michael Jackson’s death before any other news outlet could confirm it. From its coverage on Lindsay Lohan’s legal troubles to the Tiger Woods sex scandal and Brittany Murphy’s death, TMZ has altered the entertainment news landscape by changing the way the public gets its news. Frequently referenced by various media, TMZ is one of the most-cited entertainment news sources, utilized by national network and local newsgathering organizations across the country, and international media. TMZ was recently named by Newsweek as one of the “10 things that didn't exist a decade ago that we now can't live without," and was named Internet Site of the Year for 2009 by TVWeek.com. The “TMZ” television program brings the TMZ brand to television, expanding on the web site’s mission as a 24-hour-per-day, seven-day-per-week entertainment news destination that goes where stars work, live and play to take viewers on a trip through a world where the reality is even more fascinating than the hype.
