July 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Since its founding, ArtCorps has been committed to building stronger communities. Its new website takes this quest online as part of an ongoing effort to help individuals, organizations and communities tap into the power of Art for Social Action.

ArtCorps trains organizations and grassroots communities in Central America to use arts and culture as powerful tools for sustainable development. Through participatory arts projects, volunteer artists educate and inspire people to participate in improving the environmental, health and social conditions in their communities.

These are just a few of the new features http://www.artcorp.org for visitors to explore Art for Social Action:
•   Read firsthand accounts from the field by ArtCorps Artists from all over the world on the ArtCorps Blog.
•   Download the first chapter of the ArtCorps Art for Social Action handbook to learn more about this innovative tool for sustainable development.
•   ArtCorps is setting new standards in project documentation and transparency. The Project Archive shares each project from start to finish, including photo albums, videos and lessons learned.

Like its Art for Social Action model, ArtCorps has made its website a tool to Inspire, Engage and Empower, and Act!

The Executive Director of ArtCorps, Clare Dowd, is available for interviews about how the arts can transform communities. To schedule an interview, please contact J. Martha Oslin, Program Manager, Communications and Outreach: marta.oslin@artcorp.org, (978) 998-7994.
