Vedanta Donates Ambulance to Jharsuguda Police in Orissa

July 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Vedanta Aluminiun Ltd. (VAL) as a part of its sustained endeavor to augment the developmental efforts of District Administration and District Police has donated an Ambulance to Jharsuguda Police to address the growing need of meeting emergencies in Road Accidents and facilitating incidental First Aid Treatment to patients.
An Inaugural function was held here today at the District Police Office, Jharsuguda, where an Ambulance customized with state of the art Medical equipments was ceremoniously handed over to Ms. Kavita Jalan, Superintendent of Police Jharsuguda by Mr. Pramod Suri, CEO- VAL in presence of Mr. Siba Narayan Mishra, Collector and District Magistrate Jharsuguda and Dr B. N Das CDMO, Jharsuguda.

Mr. Abhijit Pati, COO VAL, Mr. Dilip Pattanayak, VP-HR VAL, Mr. Lalitendu Samant, Mr. Sanu Das and other Senior Officials of VAL, Mr. Uma Shankar Pattnaik EO Jharsuguda Municipality, Inspector-In-Charge of different police stations of Jharsuguda, Representatives from Jharsuguda Transport associations, were present among others during the function.

Speaking during the Occasion, Mr. Suri said, “Vedanta is committed for the people of Jharsuguda. We have taken up many initiatives for the socio-economic development of areas where we operate that includes a 100 bed specialty hospital for the people of Jharsuguda and a Traffic lighting system at various important busy road crossings of Town areas.” Highlighting the achievements of company in terms of Productivity and CSR activities he said, “It is because of the support of people of Jharsuguda that we have been successful in giving Jharsuguda a distinct place in World Map in terms of Largest Aluminium Smelter and mega Power Plant. VAL is now geared-up to further ease-off the energy crisis gripping the state once the 600MW of first phase of 2400MW Independent Power Plant commences with Energy Production.”

Mr. Mishra lauded the efforts of Vedanta and thanked for the various developmental initiatives undertaken by the company and said other industries must emulate such noble works that is in the larger interest of society.

Ms Jalan thanked and appreciated Vedanta for Sponsoring the Ambulance and said, “It was a long time need for the district police who will now be able to quickly meet emergencies of road accidents with First aid medical care before the patient is taken to Hospital, as in most cases it is the police who are alerted by people in case of an accident. The ambulance would also help bring down pressure on the District Hospital which has two mobile health units under their disposal”. She also expressed her heartfelt thanks to Vedanta for having provided with PCR Vans which has helped in minimizing law and order situation in the district.  
This initiative of Vedanta has been widely welcomed by the Community across all age groups.
