Iconic Melbourne bar and restaurant increases productivity with Vectron POS

July 19, 2010 - PRLog -- With many people gravitating to Cookie's bar at weekends , the crowd is often shoulder to shoulder. This busy venue needed a robust POS system that could help streamline stock control and everyday activities.  

The staff at Cookie had previously worked with an earlier system from Vectron and approached them again for a solution. Vectron installed their latest Pub/Bar POS solution in both their bar and restaurant areas.    

“We migrated to this system from another modern system due to several things, the biggest being the stability, flexibility and usability of the POS itself and the continuing good relationship we had with Vectron after putting in an earlier system” says Michael Roszbach , Bar Manager at Cookie

The Challenge:
The POS system needed to give staff immediate access to  stock, sales and profit information. They also needed to streamline stock management venue-wide, ensuring that sales during peak trading periods ran smoothly.  

“Really I personally am finding that the more I invest in the system, in using the processes and tools inherent in the back end, the more I get out of it” states Michael. “I can chart a night on an hourly basis and compare it to the same date last year on an hour to hour basis or in fact the same day (say the second Saturday in May) this time last year”.

“More so the support and down to earth understanding from the team at Vectron is top notch, really superb. If you ever have a problem the system is set up for off site support but usually I will have someone who not only answers my question but fixes my problem within minutes.”

Stock Control:
“At Cookie we have a massive, and I do mean truly massive, stock list” states Michael Roszbach  “Something upwards of 3000 items entered on the POS.  It allows us the flexibility to easily manage, display and keep track of ALL that stock as well as making entering items and condiments and stock an absolute breeze. The amount of support information incorporated into the pos (such as a recipe and graphical data) make it a dream to work with even with new staff.”

Vectron’s point of sale system comes with a fully integrated stock control system running in real time.  Staff can run stock  tracking down to ingredient level, variance and purchase history  reports and  profit analysis. Stock transfers and purchase orders can all be created automatically.

Staff Accountability &  Speed:
“The link with AXEZE wristbands we can make the whole venue completely accountable. We know who is selling what, where, how much for and how much we have left.

“The previous system we moved from had some stability issues and there is nothing more frustrating then watching people pull out pens and paper when you have a till system worth tens of thousands of dollars just sitting there and blinking at you. Our new system even has local machine stability, so was lightning to strike (touch wood) the individual tills still operate stand alone, until you can get the rest up and running.”  

Vectron equipped Cookie with their pub/Bar POS system, fast intuitive touchscreen terminals and heavy duty printers. For a seamless operation, multi location inventory control, remote receipt printing and integration to MYOB and CCTV security cameras completed their set up.

Michael concluded  “There is not a consistent worry about the system. It works. It's powerful. It's simple and the main limitation in getting the most out of it is my own ability. I think that's how things should be”.
