July 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, the artist also known as Brian Halliday was a familiar face both at home and abroad, when his unique brand of stage hypnotism and mind reading wowed audiences all over the UK and Europe.

In his home town of Edinburgh, Shrink’s regular late night spot at the Odeon Cinema sold out for years, and became the stuff of legend.

Shrink’s mesmeric performance material has been a major influence on top mind readers on stage and television as far afield as the US, Europe, Israel, Australia and Indonesia.

Now, for three very special nights as part of the 2010 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Shrink is back, so prepare to be shocked and surprised.

“Hypnosis shows are the original comedy improvs,” states Shrink, “where ordinary members of the audience are liberated by hyper-suggestible hypnotic states of mind and let loose on stage. Everything from then on descends into sheer lunacy.

“The outrageously side splitting humour comes from putting ordinary members of the audience into extraordinary situations and watch them explode on stage, revealing the deeper sides and sometimes darker sides to their personalities.”

Shrink first realised he had a very particular ability while at school where he regularly hypnotised his school mates, much to their amusement. Since then he has spent most of his adult life developing the knowledge and skills to create receptive states and influence the human mind.

“No one knows for sure what hypnosis exactly is,” says Shrink. “Experts are split down the middle, with some claiming it doesn’t exist and the other half claiming it does.

“I personally believe hypnosis and the human mind’s capability to respond to suggestion to be one of the most enduring and powerful forces available to man, utilised throughout the centuries by religion, politics, education and advertising.”

In Shrink’s case, hypnosis is also used to engender a late night of outrageous fun.

“The show is designed to amaze, astonish but, most importantly, to make you laugh uncontrollably until your sides ache,” says Shrink.

“If you come to the show, be prepared for some of the funniest live spontaneous moments you will ever see on stage. No two nights are ever the same.”

Shrink does, however, offer a warning to more sensitive souls.

“Although they are not intended to offend anyone,” he says, “you may be shocked at some of the antics and over the top, outrageous humour you might normally expect at a late night Fringe show.

“If you are easily offended, please stay away. I invite all-comers, however, to see my show and make up your own mind...”
